A mood disorder is a psychological disorder characterized by the elevation or lowering of a person’s mood, such as depression or bipolar disorder. If you suffer from a mood disorder, typically your mood is inconsistent with your circumstances.

Mood disorders and personality disorders tend to go hand in hand. A personality disorder is a type of mental disorder. It is an unhealthy pattern of thinking, functioning and behaving. People with personality disorders have trouble perceiving and relating to situations and people causing significant limitations in relationships and social situations.
